Exercise That Body, Mumma!

WHY NEED THIS

Get Rid Of All Tension

We all know how important it is to go to the gym or exercise. It helps our bodies maintain strong so we are better able to deal with everything that comes.

Interesting maybe that not often was exercising called out when we asked our mums what they do for themselves. However, our mums are very aware how important it is to exercise their bodies. Some struggle to find the time though…

Use it for

Sneak In Some Exercise

Many of our mums struggle to find time to exercise. Their busy schedules, kids that require attention 24/7, work responsibilities and daily chores take up that much time that when they are finished at the end of the day, they do not feel like doing anything anymore. Many find that they will lay on the couch, scrolling through social media or watching some Netflix in the spare moments of rest. Our mums have been discussing how to get in some time for exercise.

How Our Mums Get Some Exercise

  • Lunch break – Exercise during lunch break is a great way to get in some exercise. It does not take you away from your kids and if you have a lunch that can easily be eaten at your desk, it will likely give you the best of both worlds.
  • Get up early – Get up an hour early to exercise is what some of our mums do to get their exercise in. They find that although it is one hour less sleep, the amount of energy that exercising provides them, outweighs that by far. The early morning is also appreciated by our mums as a nice way to wake up without screaming kids around but enjoying their environments and caring for their bodies. A jog along the local park or a Pilates class early morning will do.
  • During chores – as you only need 30 minutes a day of exercise, some of our mums just get their exercise in during the daily chores. They squat while making a bottle for their babies. They do some calf raisers in the shower or some lunges back and forth while making dinner. One for the more efficient mums amongst us!
  • End of day – use end of day leisure time to go to the gym. With generous gym opening hours this should be possible for everybody. Our mums find that when they get into this habit it will get easier to not jump on the couch after a long day. Having a friend joining you, might be a great way to make sure you will go.
  • Outdoors – in our beautiful country we have many opportunities for outdoor activities with the kids. Some of our mums go jogging with the pram along the beach or up the hill for some exercising.
  • Video exercise – doing a video online at home when and wherever you can is the solution to some of our mums. They recommend Les Mills [link] $25 per month or Pop Sugar [link].
  • Weekend – go for walks, a swim or the gym during the weekend is what some of our mums do. They either take their family along or they let dad watch the kids for a bit while they exercise.
  • Walk – when you try to walk to lots of places you will get a lot of exercise in without really noticing. A great way to do this without having to compromise on other activities. Some of our mums like to go for a walk just before they pick up bubs.
  • Early bedtime – some of our mums get bubs in bed early at certain nights, so they are able to get in a bit of time for exercising.
  • Hubby – some of our mums get their husbands to help with the cleaning up, waking up bubs, dropping off or picking up from daycare while they go exercise.
  • Train – when you get off the train a stop before, you can get a quick walk in.
  • Commute – instead of jumping in the car or on the bus or train, some of our mums go for a run on their commute home. With busy traffic, this might not actually take you longer than normal.
  • Eat together – if you are one of those mums that eat when their bubs are napping or in bed, think about eating together instead. You will then have all the time you are making and eating your food, to exercise. Especially when bubs is eating solids like you, this should be easy to accomplish.
  • Cook ahead – making a double serve of food one night, will save you the time to cook dinner on another night. Use that time for some exercise.
  • Skip housework – our mums like to skip the housework on two nights a week to do some exercise instead. On the other nights it does not take much to clean everything from the night before.
